WOW, I'm Impressed!

Postby The Garage on Tue Jun 23, 2009 6:37 pm

Hi, just wanted to drop by & say how much I'm liking xt7! Please don't abandon the project, this is the best linux audio/video player I've found yet! Might even get me to drop using winamp under wine to drive my local low power & online radio station if I can just figure out a few things!

Couple of questions?

1 - Is gapless playback possible? It's almost a requirement for broadcasting. [or at least fading]

2 - I see the custom audio filters settings box, but I'm not sure how I'd use Dysoncompressor & Hard limiter with this......if that's possible, as they are important to broadcasting so you don't overmodulate.
EDIT - got this working fine now with ladspa plugins, would be nice if xt7 could be a ladspa host [similar to how audacious does it graphically] but it's working for me now.

3 - After further investigation I'm really liking this xt7! Looking for a way to enque files though, is this possible?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

0 - Thank you vry much, but Xt7 is just a gui to mplayer, not properly an audio/video player ;)

1- gapless playback is not possible with mplayer, there are a couple of hack i could think about, but they require a lot of work and, probably, a lot of stability issues.

2- I'm glad you managed to get it working, by the way, there's a thread in this forum on how to boost the audio using ladspa filters, it's the best setting i found so far;
mplayer, if compiled with ladspa support, is itself a ladspa host, you just need to follow that howto: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=10

3-Is it possible to enqueue files by using the command line:
If you have an open xt7-player istance, issuing the command:
Code: Select all
xt7-player.gambas -append "/path/to/FileToAppend.mp3"

will add it to the playlist.
You can create a menu item in kde or whatever is your Desktop environment.
