Koko, to let you know, I've installed Kubuntu and then installed xt7 (and gambas3) from the ppa and covers got loaded. So Kubuntu or KDE has something others lack.

I'm glad you managed to got it working, but unfortunately that doesn't explain why it worked for me with lubuntu...

It has worked for you, because you've already had that mysterious component installed by your initial (KDE) distro. Sort of...
